On 1st of July 2018 the West Australian government banned single use plastic bags. Every year billions of lightweight plastic bags are supplied throughout Australia and millions of these are littered throughout Western Australia. The world is rarely black and white, it is complicated, unstable, full of misconceptions and exterior forces moulding our perceptions. These perceptions influence our interpretation. If an object is perceived negatively can it be beautiful? Is an ethereal, ephemeral image of a controversial, repugnant material stronger because of the contrast?
